It's time for new tyres if the tread depth is below the recommended minimum, typically 1.6mm. You can check this at home by looking at the tread wear indicators (small blocks or 'bars' within the tread grooves). When these blocks are level with the tread surface, it's a sign that your tyres need replacing. Also keep an eye out for any damage, punctures, bulges, or uneven wear on your tyres.

We help you choose tyres that fit your budget. While we generally don't recommend cheap tyres due to their reduced grip and safety, they can be an option if necessary. Expensive tyres, offering the best grip, are typically suited for performance cars. They're often made from a softer compound, which which can wear out faster. For everyday driving, mid-tier tyres from reputable brands often provide the best balance between safety, performance, and cost.
